FAQ's ON HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT ROOF MOUNT FANS AND ACCESSORIES Q: Is the roof flat or sloped? A: If the roof is flat or slightly sloped up to 2/12 pitch, you will need either an FLT or CRB model. If the roof is sloped steeper than 6/12, you cannot use our roof mount fans. Q: If the roof is flat or slightly sloped, does it have a parapet or roof drain or does the water drain right over the edge of the roof? A: If there is no parapet or roof drain and the water drains right over the edge, you need an FLT (flat) model. If there is a parapet or roof drain then order the CRB (Curb) model. Q: Is there a ceiling below the roof? A: If there is a ceiling, you don't need any accessories unless you want to close the opening when the fan is not running. If you do, order the "QC-13362 gravity in-line damper accessory" that mounts to the bottom of the roof mount fan. Q: If there is a ceiling below the roof, is there at least 20 inches of space between the roof and the ceiling? (It doesn't matter if there is no access to this space with a crawl hole) A: If there is 20 inches or more of space, you need a QC-60019 "Ceiling Box & Damper Grill Kit" plus a "QC-12005 Insulated Duct" in addition to the roof mount fan. Q: If there is less than 20 inches of space between the roof and the ceiling, are there solid wood members such as rafters that connect the roof to the ceiling? In other words, is the ceiling attached to the bottom of the rafters and the roof attached to the top of the rafters? A: If there are rafters that connect the ceiling to the roof (which creates an enclosed duct), you need a QC-60018 Grill & Damper Kit in addition to the roof mount fan. If the ceiling is connected to the roof using open web trusses or other means, you cannot use our roof mount fans. Q: Is there a power cord that comes with the roof mount fans? A: Roof mount fans do not have a plug on the end. They have a J-box on the end to make the connection in. For accessories and to view other whole house fans Click Here.
